Barcamp Ethiopia 2011: On Creation of a Dynamic Community

On September 2010 some 350 people got together and discussed different issues, collaborating on different areas of discipline, creating a strong network towards their profession, business and future projects. Happy faces all around. Inspired people and positive outcomes were expressions of the success. Young people, who also know how to have fun, make connections. Above all, gathering of positive people who can make a real and sustainable change.

I am talking about BarCampEthiopia 2010. In those two days, there were amazing stories told, lessons learned, projects started, networks established. As the motto of the 2010 went: New learning | New thinking | New behavior. This is exactly what happened.

At first month of Ethiopian year, in this same month of September, we are heading to another great event of BarcampEthiopia 2011. The new motto is: Your Knowledge | Your community

An American academic, Virginia Gildersleeve said,

The ability to think straight, some knowledge of the past, some vision of the future, some urge to fit that service into the well-being of the community – these are the most vital things that education must try to produce

On September 23 – 24, people will come from different places and backgrounds to share their ideas, without a structured program or outline. No one will sit and listen, but rather forward ideas and collaborate. The nature of Barcamp event is quite the opposite of the traditional conferencing, where important people talk and less important people listen. It is an event for everyone equally participates, equally contributes and equally benefited.

I will try to update you the progress more in the coming days. As for now, register at eLearning Ethiopia social network to assist on the preparation.

Why do I write?

I write blogs for my mind freedom.

I believe that I have a lot to share with friends. I'm not planning to change the world. But I'm drawing a small circle. If I could change this circle, it won't stop from expanding!

Save your Environment

As the WWF ad goes, "Rubbish can be recycled, nature cannot". Being less sensitive about environment results catastrophe. Protect it!
